September 11, 1997--Newman Court Apartments, of Pontiac, Michigan will celebrate 25 years of operation and service on Sunday, August 24, 1997 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Attendees are welcome to partake in a tour of the complex, a brief celebratory program, and a reception. The celebration will be held on the grounds of the Newman Court Apartments complex, off University Boulevard. Newman Court Apartments is a multi-family housing community for low-income families. The complex includes 172 units, a Community Building, and a play area for young children. It was awarded the Beautification Award for several years from the City of Pontiac. Newman Non-Profit Housing Corporation is pleased to present the Grand Opening of its Neighborhood Networks program during the upcoming 25th anniversary celebration. Neighborhood Networks is a grant program sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") to increase computer literacy, enhance marketable job skills, and provide after-school educational opportunities for the residents of HUD-funded and HUD-insured properties. Newman Court Apartments has extended invitations to prominent community officials. Invitees include: State Representative Hubert Price, Mayor Walter Moore, County Commissioner Dr. JoAnne Holbert, City Commissioner Clarence Phillips, and Mr. Delmer Anderson of the Pontiac Growth Group; as well as representatives of HUD and MSHDA. This event will celebrate the established record of community service the Newman Non-Profit Housing Corporation has provided to the City of Pontiac. -End-
