BUS501 Introduction to Resume Writing 

[Limit: 4 Students per Class] [Prerequisites: IPC101 & IPC102. Course Length: 1- ½ hours] In this course, students will learn what a good resume is and why it is important. Topics include:

bulletWhat is a resume? Definition and purpose.
bulletFive Characteristics of a Good Resume.
bulletFeedback Employers give on Resumes.
bulletThree Basic Resume Formats.
bulletThe Job Objective as a Starting Point.
bulletWhy knowing what you want in a career should come first.

BUS502 What Color is Your Parachute?  

[Limit: 4 Students per Class] [Prerequisites: IPC101 & IPC102. Course Length: 1- ½ hours] In this course, students will explore their talents and skills to determine what career path would be most rewarding. Topics include:

bulletThe Career Map. Which path do you want to take?
bulletThe Flower Diagram: Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow.
bulletThe Next Step: What do you need to do to get where you want to go?

BUS503 Job Training & Placement Workshop. 

[Limit: 6 Students per Class] [Prerequisites: IPC101, IPC102 & NET401 or 402. Course Length: 2 hours] This workshop allows students who are seeking part-time or full-time employment to utilize the Internet in their search for prospective employers and/or training programs.

BUS504 Typing Clinic. 

[Limit: 7 Students per Class] [Prerequisites: IPC101 & IPC102. Course Length: 1 hour] All students can benefit by increasing their typing speed and accuracy. During this 1-hour clinic, students will utilize a multimedia typing tutorial program (Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing) which will assess your current skill level and create games and lessons designed to increase your skills and improve your problem areas. Lessons include transcription typing and dictation.

BUS505 Business Writing Workshop.

[Limit: 4 Students per Class] [Prerequisites: IPC101 & IPC102. Course Length 2 hours] Students will learn the fundamentals of writing effective letters and memos. Topics include:

bulletWriting clear and informative subject lines.
bulletStating the purpose first.
bulletUsing Logical Organization.
bulletUsing Informative Headings.
bulletIncluding a Response Date.
bulletUsing Emphasis Techniques.
bulletUsing short sentences and paragraphs.
